It’s October in the Northeast..are you dreading SAD?

We don’t have to dread Seasonal Affective Disorder. We can take measures to prevent it:

• Get to bed early and sleep and wake at the same time daily if you can.

• Move your body even if it's light stretching.

• Focus on nutrient-rich, comforting foods. Healthy dietary fats are your friend.

• Alcohol, however, is not your friend. Too much caffeine isn't either. One cup a day is usually fine!

• Get outside first thing in the morning, even if it's for a few minutes. This will help regulate your circadian rhythm.

• Have your vitamin D levels checked. You want them high, up near at least 60ng/ml.

• Connect with friends and loved ones daily.

• Snuggling is key! It releases oxytocin, reduces stress, lowers blood pressure, boosts mood, and boosts immunity.

Please take care of yourself!

xoxo,

Dr. Alia
